Take a Ride on the Old Railway

Cycling

This fun and easy cycling trip on The Old Railway Bike Trail is suitable for the whole family. Start from Mew Lake in Algonquin Park, approximately a one-hour’s drive if you’re coming from Barry’s Bay.

The trail follows the abandoned and historic Ottawa, Arnprior, and Parry Sound Railway tracks. You can stop and read sign panels that feature tidbits of history along the way. The trail runs 10 kilometres in one direction and provides hours of outdoor enjoyment. Visit the Ontario Trails Council website for more details on this trail.

Bring your appetites to the Ash Grove Inn located in Barry’s Bay for a home-cooked, country style meal. If you have your bathing suits you can also stop by the local swimming hole, which is a 2-minute walk from the restaurant.
