Driving
Whether you are coming from your Canadian hometown or city or flying into a major airport hub, driving to Ontario’s Highlands is the easiest way to reach the region. Lucky for you, the short two-and-a-half hour drive from Toronto and the even shorter half-hour drive from Ottawa are lovely trips that afford scenic views of rolling countryside, luscious treetops, and local wildlife. Even the jagged rock formations that line the side of the highway (often topped by manmade inuksuks) have a rugged charm. Keep your eyes on the lookout for brooks, streams, and serene lakes that can often be viewed on the journey into the region. The short drive should also be a smooth one, as Ontario takes pride in keeping highways and major roadways well maintained for your driving pleasure.
